Job Description

Storm Search is seeking an experienced Director of EHS specializing in water and wastewater treatment systems within the protein industry. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership, regulatory expertise, and operational guidance to ensure compliance, efficiency, and safety across facilities nationwide. This position offers the opportunity to shape policy, drive innovation, and foster a proactive EHS culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations and compliance for water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Develop and implement SOPs, guidelines, and compliance documentation to meet and exceed local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Deliver training and guidance to operators, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant system functionality.
  • Act as the subject matter expert in wastewater pretreatment, anaerobic and aeration systems (including Biological Nutrient Removal - BNR), and disinfection.
  • Drive data-driven decision-making to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain 100% compliance across facilities.
  • Partner with Senior EHS Directors and Regional EHS Managers to ensure regulatory compliance, promote best practices, and maintain safe working environments.
  • Assist in developing and executing corporate EHS policies, programs, and training materials across assigned facilities.
  • Ensure facilities are audit / inspection ready for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and coordinate regulatory compliance disputes with OSHA, EPA, Chemical Safety Board, and other agencies in collaboration with internal and external legal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10+ years relevant experience , or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of team management and development experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to make strategic decisions under pressure , including leading emergency response efforts.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time based on business needs. Company vehicle provided.
  • Extensive knowledge of water and wastewater regulations, particularly within the protein industry.
  • Strong background in wastewater treatment operations, management, and leadership.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills ; ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Bilingual skills (preferred, not required).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
