Director - Data Practice

This is Onsite role with multiple local client visits (with few travels to client site)
About Us :
We are a growing organization providing specialized data services to diverse customers. While we have strong individual contributors delivering client projects, we are now ready to formalize and expand into a comprehensive Data Practice that spans strategy, governance, platforms, and advanced analytics. We’re looking for a proven leader in data and analytics services to build and scale this practice from the ground up.
We are specifically looking for candidates with the following background and experience :
- Company Background :
- Candidates should come from consulting firms or implementation companies .
- We are not considering profiles from end clients (e.g., PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Bristol Myers, etc.), as such roles typically involve being the client rather than building business for the organization.
- Key Experience Required :
- Proven experience in building and setting up AI and Data practices from scratch .
- Strong ability to establish and grow data practices, including strategy, delivery models, and go-to-market initiatives .
- A blend of sales and technology expertise – someone who can actively bring in new business while having a solid understanding of data and AI technologies.
- Ideal Candidate :
- A business-oriented leader who has successfully created and scaled data practices in the past.
- Comfortable in client-facing and sales-driven roles with deep knowledge of modern data platforms, cloud, and AI ecosystems.
- Company Background :
- Have you primarily worked with consulting or implementation firms (e.g., Deloitte, Accenture, TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, etc.)?
- Have you worked directly for end clients (like PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Bristol Myers, etc.)?
- (If yes, deprioritize.)
- Practice Building Experience :
- Have you ever built or set up a Data & AI practice from scratch for an organization?
- Can you share an example of how you structured the practice (team building, delivery models, partnerships, etc.)?
- Sales & Business Growth :
- Do you have direct experience in business development, pre-sales, or client acquisition for Data / AI services?
- Have you contributed to revenue growth targets ? Please share an example.
- Technology Exposure :
- What is your exposure to modern data and AI technologies (e.g., cloud platforms like AWS / Azure / GCP, data engineering, AI / ML solutions)?
- Are you able to engage in technical conversations with CXOs while also driving business deals?
- Leadership & Strategy :
- How many years of experience do you have in leadership roles within data and AI practices?
- Have you managed global delivery teams and built strategic partnerships with cloud providers or technology vendors?
