Job description :
The Paving Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily operations of paving crews on construction sites. This includes planning, coordinating, and supervising asphalt paving projects to ensure they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Supervise and coordinate the activities of paving crew members.Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company standards.Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and job orders.Manage scheduling of crew, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency.Monitor project progress and adjust schedules and tasks as necessary.Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Operate and inspect paving equipment such as pavers, rollers, and other heavy machinery.Maintain accurate daily reports, including crew hours, materials used, and project status.Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, clients, and subcontractors.Train and mentor crew members to ensure skill development and adherence to procedures.Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus.Minimum 3–5 years of experience in paving or heavy civil construction.At least 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a construction environment.Strong knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and equipment.Ability to read blueprints and project specifications.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; CDL preferred.Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends as needed.Working Conditions :
Outdoor work environment; exposure to varying weather conditions.Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operating heavy machinery.May involve working near moving equipment and loud noise.Preferred Certifications :
OSHA 10 or 30-hour certificationFirst Aid / CPREquipment operator certifications
