Job description

High Voltage Transmission Electrical Engineer

Join to apply for the High Voltage Transmission Electrical Engineer role at AECOM. The focus is HVDC electrical power systems with designation HVDC terrestrial / submarine cable systems and converter stations.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering support for HVDC terrestrial and submarine cable systems and converter stations
  • Supporting HVDC cable routing and converter station feasibility studies
  • Providing technical support input during the project permitting phase
  • Preparation of conceptual level engineering documents
  • Collaborating with Project Engineer and Project Manager to develop design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities
  • Supporting clients with utility interface and technical coordination
  • Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis)
  • PSCAD model development and analysis
  • Preparation of one line and three-line diagrams, AC / DC schematics, BOMs, wire schedules, interconnection diagrams
  • Field experience including witnessing testing of HVDC equipment and systems
  • Developing construction and equipment specifications
  • Supporting projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning as needed
  • Grounding analysis and design
  • Reviewing engineering work performed by peers
  • Attending client meetings
  • Assist in promoting AECOM's capabilities while maintaining existing client base
  • Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's area of expertise and present complex technical solutions to clients
  • Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others
  • Participate in development of technical proposals
  • Provide estimates for the engineering budget and schedule
  • Work remotely or at various Energy offices in the United States under the Freedom to Grow program

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 years of relevant HVAC experience and HVDC experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education
  • Experience must include electrical power engineering with some leadership experience
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education
  • Experience working with FACTS
  • Power systems analysis software experience (ASPEN OneLiner, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, AcSELerator, EnerVista, etc.)
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc.)
  • Able to lead engineering tasks with strong communication skills
  • Experience on full EPC, Design / Build projects from start to finish
  • Plant Startup and Commissioning Field Experience
  • Owner's Engineering experience
  • Experience working with remote teams

  • Offered compensation will be based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is USD 130,000 to USD 180,000 per year.
