Job description

The Network Engineer will oversee installation, configuration, testing, monitoring, and servicing of network equipment for projects supporting the Department of Defense networks.

Education & Certification Requirements

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree and hold a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).

An active Secret security clearance is mandatory.

This role is on-site at Scott Air Force Base

Responsibilities

  • Perform customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), and execution of all reporting functions.
  • Complete data input related to new network equipment and service activations, ensuring compliance with DISA standards.
  • Configure and maintain DISA's out-of-band management network comprising Cisco and Juniper devices with baseline configurations customized for each site.
  • Upgrade software on Cisco and Juniper devices as needed.
  • Develop and update project planning documentation, including IP addressing schemes and port assignments on out-of-band management nodes.
  • Conduct systems analysis, consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional requirements.
  • Verify points of contact, location details, and interface information accuracy.
  • Engage with DISA project managers and customers to resolve requirements issues and facilitate approvals for service requests.
  • Analyze network hardware specifications and configuration processes, applying industry standards.
  • Apply knowledge of network architecture, including protocols like BGP, ISIS, VLAN, VRF, and services such as DHCP, DNS, TCP / IP, WAN, VPN.
  • Configure, test, and analyze network systems, troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment and work independently to complete assignments.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree or 2 years with a master's degree.
  • Proficient in network hardware configuration and testing processes.
  • Experience with network protocols and services, including BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP / IP, VLAN, VRF, and WAN.
  • Knowledge of router-to-router connections using military and commercial protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with network appliances such as routers, load balancers, firewalls.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with DISA systems, processes, or SharePoint data entry is preferred.
