Overview
Medical Practice Clinical Lead RN position in the Gastroenterology department in Rhinebeck, NY. 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, variable 8 hour shifts between 7 : 30am and 6 : 00pm. Flexibility for occasional evening meetings. Hybrid / remote work 1 day per week after onboarding period.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate assigned staff, equipment and resources to facilitate smooth daily operational flow; optimize patient care; direct and assist staff in daily work processes; span of control to include RNs, LPNs and potentially MAs (dependent on practice structure).
- Patient check-in, document chief complaint, vital signs, history, capture charges for ancillary services, assist with patient summaries, medication / allergy / history forms, and obtain appropriate treatment consents.
- Administer and document injections; dispense and document medications as directed by physician / provider. Label and handle labs, paps, cultures, biopsies and other specimens; prepare laboratory and imaging requisitions.
- Coordinate further patient care and follow-up; communicate with patient, hospital, labs, imaging centers, pharmacies, physician offices, and insurance plans as directed by RN / physician / provider.
- Independently manage patient triage calls and seek direction from providers as needed; assist LPNs and MAs with triage disposition and ensure documentation reflects disposition.
- Measure and monitor KPIs with Practice Leadership; KPIs include Growth / Financial Stability, Patient Experience, Operational Efficiency, Employee Satisfaction / Culture, Quality.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise and serve as a resource for clinical staff; monitor inventory and order medical supplies; follow up on outstanding orders.
- Manage PTO requests and maintain appropriate staff and provider schedules.
- Develop guidelines for prioritizing work activities; evaluate effectiveness and modify activities as necessary.
- Mentor, orient, train, educate and supervise clinical staff to improve competency and patient satisfaction using established workflows and policies, in collaboration with Medical Practice Nursing Education.
- Collaborate with Practice Manager, Medical Practice Nursing Leader and Human Resources on hiring, discipline, grievance management, performance evaluations, feedback and coaching.
- Monitor clinical workflows; address inefficiencies and formulate corrective action plans to achieve KPIs; hold monthly clinical meetings with providers and staff to review KPI and implement / monitor process improvements; use patient satisfaction data to drive targeted improvement plans; escalate issues as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements
