Overview
Senior Epic Analyst – Grand Central / Prelude / Real-Time Eligibility role at Boston Children's Hospital. The Senior Epic Analyst provides advanced expertise in the design, build, implementation, testing, and support of the Epic Grand Central, Prelude, and RTE modules. This senior-level role partners closely with operational leaders, end users, and IT teams to ensure system functionality supports complex clinical and administrative workflows, operational efficiency, and strategic objectives. The Senior Analyst serves as a subject matter expert, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership, while acting as a primary liaison between end users and Epic technical resources.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Leads the design, configuration, testing, and support of Epic Grand Central, Prelude, and RTE modules, ensuring alignment with BCH operational goals.
- Provides strategic recommendations to optimize Epic workflows and system functionality for complex business processes.
- Partners with senior operational stakeholders to analyze, document, and translate advanced business requirements into system solutions.
- Serves as a mentor and resource for junior analysts, providing guidance on configuration, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Oversees system changes, upgrades, and enhancements, ensuring adherence to BCH change management standards and Epic governance policies.
- Leads troubleshooting efforts for high-impact application or integration issues, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Develops and maintains advanced documentation, including system architecture, workflows, training materials, and operational guides.
- Collaborates with the training team and operational leaders to ensure smooth adoption of system changes and optimization initiatives.
- Provides tier-two and tier-three support as needed, serving as a key escalation point for complex Epic issues.
- Participates in on-call rotation, system maintenance, and critical incident management activities.
- Drives continuous improvement, standardization, and strategic initiatives across Epic modules and BCH departments.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience requiredMinimum of 4–5 years of Epic application support experience, preferably in a hospital or academic medical centerAdvanced understanding of patient registration, admission, discharge, transfer (ADT), and eligibility workflowsDemonstrated experience in leading or mentoring Epic analysts or project teamsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and operational teamsCertifications
Epic Grand Central certification – requiredEpic Prelude certification – requiredEpic Real-Time Eligibility (RTE) certification – preferredAdditional Epic certifications or cross-certifications – highly desirablePreferred Qualifications
