About The Position

Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant – Locum Opportunity (New Jersey)

Practice Setting : Inpatient / Hospital-based

Location : New Jersey

Start Date : ASAP

EMR : Cerner

Trauma Level : None

Estimated Credentialing Timeframe : 60 days

Schedule

Weekdays : Monday–Friday, 8–10 hour days in-house

Night Call : 6 : 00 PM – 6 : 00 AM

Weekend Call : Friday 6 : 00 PM – Monday 6 : 00 AM (includes call and rounding from 7 : 00 AM–12 : 00 PM on Saturday and Sunday)

Patient Load

Operate on 2 patients / day

Round on 5–12 patients / day (ICU and floor; includes consults)

Required Procedures

Retrieval of Vascular Tissues for Use as a Bypass Conduit

Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)

Chest Tube Insertions

First Assist in OR for Cardiac Surgery

Required Duties

Rounding and Coordination of Care

Assist in Surgery

Diagnose and Treat Illnesses

Order and Interpret Tests

Write Prescriptions

Suture Removal

Submission Requirements

NCCPA Certification – Required

Active New Jersey License – Required (no time to wait for licensing)

CSR – Required

Minimum 2–3 years of Cardiothoracic Surgery experience, including proficiency in EVH and first assist – Required

Experience with Cerner EMR – Preferred

Mileage and tolls reimbursed; lodging may be available for the right candidate

Rate Structure

Hourly rate for Monday–Friday in-house

Night call + callback rate

Weekend call includes gratis (minimum of 4 hours)
