Pay : $30 – $37 / hour

  • Quarterly performance bonus up to $1,000 (total potential $4,000 per year)

Job Description :

Addison Group is hiring an experienced Inpatient Coder to support our client’s remote coding team. This position is responsible for accurately coding and abstracting inpatient encounters using ICD-10-CM and PCS classifications. The coder will ensure data integrity, compliance, and accuracy across multiple hospital facilities within a structured, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for inpatient encounters across multiple EMR systems (Cerner, Meditech, and Epic depending on facility).
  • Review, abstract, and validate medical records to ensure proper DRG assignment and adherence to coding guidelines.
  • Conduct coding quality reviews and assist in second-level audits as needed.
  • Maintain accuracy, productivity, and compliance within established departmental standards.
  • Participate in coding education sessions and maintain current AHIMA or AAPC credentials.
  • Collaborate with coding coordinators and leadership to support DNFC and quality goals.
  • Qualifications :

  • Minimum 2 years of inpatient facility coding experience in an acute care or community hospital setting.
  • Preferred Certifications : CCS or RHIA (AHIMA and AAPC certifications accepted).
  • Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM / PCS and DRG methodology.
  • Ability to code complex inpatient charts accurately and efficiently charts per hour target).
  • Experience working across multiple EMR systems (Cerner, Meditech, Epic).
  • Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a proactive, team-focused mindset.
  • Contract work experience is acceptable—please ensure it’s noted clearly on your résumé.
  • Additional Details :

  • Schedule : Fully remote, flexible hours (must maintain consistent schedule and communicate with management).
  • Interview Process : Resume review → coding test (50 multiple choice questions, 84% to pass) → interview with manager → offer.
  • Reporting : Reports to regional coding manager (varies by assigned facilities).
  • Tools : Predictive coding platform, CARDS, RevInt.
  • Non-Compete Restrictions : Cannot currently work for or have recently worked with certain major vendors (details shared during screening).
