Key Account Manager - Ophthalmology

Reports to : Country Lead Austria + Switzerland

Location : Remote, Switzerland East

About Apellis

At Apellis we are entering an exciting time with our first ever expected product launch in ophthalmology. Apellis will be introducing a first-in-class and first-to-market treatment option in eye care for geographic atrophy, a condition with a high unmet medical need and leading cause of blindness around the world. Currently no treatment is available for geographic atrophy.

Key Responsibilities Include :

  • You engage with relevant HCPs within the assigned territory and will be responsible for the successful launch of a novel treatment for a retina disease.
  • You explore and assess the potential of customers, build expert networks, and connect new dots along the patient journey and you provide key data, information for the treatment
  • You build trusted relations to KOL in hospitals, clinical centers, and expert groups, further with players from public healthcare and patient groups via physical meetings and virtual channels.
  • You adopt and execute the overcall regional and country strategy within your territory and report regularly key measures and information out from the field to the commercial head
  • You collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medical affairs, market access, and sales operations, to ensure successful execution of account plans.
  • You provide product education and clinical support to healthcare professionals to increase product adoption and utilization.
  • You conduct regular business reviews with key accounts to review sales performance and identify opportunities for growth. You stay up-to-date on industry trends and competitor activities to adapt account strategies
  • You manage resources effectively to ensure that all activities are executed within budget and in compliance with policies and procedures

Education, Registration & Certification :

  • You have at least a bachelor's degree
  • Experience :

  • You have at least 3 years of Sales Experience in specialty care that include launch experience, ideally from the TA in ophthalmology.
  • You have a proven track record that shows us your performance with a new organization, launching a new product into a specialty care market.
  • You are a trusted and reliable partner for KOL and customers, and you are highly competent to stand high level talks where you communicate and condense top information.
  • You have strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and execute effective account plans
  • Skills, knowledge and abilities :

  • The Account owner; empowered to execute tactics to achieve account goals, orchestrate stakeholders, ensure optimal customer experience, and accountable for the success of each account
  • Business consultant; with deep and holistic understanding of the account and broader market landscape / ecosystem
  • Sales-savvy networker able to build relationships, engage stakeholders and embed themselves within new or existing networks.
  • Strategic negotiator adept at identifying and utilising influencers and / or leverage points to overcome challenges and meet account goals
  • Company ambassador; actively cultivating customer belief and advocacy across all account stakeholders
  • Clear communicator and active listener when working with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Risk tolerant entrepreneur with creative (and compliant) solutions to improve patient outcomes
