Description :
Start dates are not flexible.
A 100-mile radius rule applies.
No 48-hour guarantees or blocked scheduling requests will be accepted.
No more than 5 days of request for time off is allowed.
The facility is an extension of a main campus with trauma Level 2, STEMI, and stroke receiving capabilities.
Patients requiring stroke intervention will be referred out.
The unit has 20 beds and 2 trauma bays.
There are 6 fast track beds available.
Triage has quick look areas.
ER holds are intermixed within the ER.
There are no seclusion rooms for psychiatric patients.
Security is present in-house 24 / 7.
On average, the ER treats around 300 patients per day.
Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1 : 5 for medical cases, 1 : 2-3 for pediatric cases, and 1 : 6 for fast track.
Common patient diagnoses include any and all emergency needs.
Common drips include ICU gtts for holding patients, with ICU assistance when necessary.
The emergency department is staffed with varied shifts of MDs and mid-level practitioners.
There is no designated charge nurse on each shift; a house supervisor will assist as needed.
Emergency techs with a minimum of 2 years of experience manage EKGs, vital signs, blood draws, and splints.
Respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7 for various treatments.
Equipment includes Glidescope, Hamilton, and Phillips vents.
RNs are responsible for their own telemetry readings, though monitor techs are also present.
X-ray and CT imaging is available in the ER with a dedicated transport team.
ED techs will perform lab draws unless RNs draw from IV starts.
The scheduling process allows for varied shift start times, with weekend requirements of 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block and typically 2 holiday shifts.
Float requirements involve a shared schedule with a main campus, typically arranged in advance.
Scrub color is navy blue.
Unit-specific orientation includes one new employee orientation day, one clinical / EPIC day, and one clinical day on the floor.
Cancellation policy allows for hours equivalent to the weekly guaranteed hours for the assignment.
Charting system utilized is Epic.
A BSN is not required.
