Job Summary
Responsible for recruiting, licensing, coordination of foster parent training, and record keeping of all foster parents in the region. Must demonstrate sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
Qualifications
An individual with strong convictions who is also in agreement with White's mission statement, Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct. A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Human / Social Services, Human Development and Life Studies, Family and Consumer Sciences, or Child Development and three years of experience in community-based support services. Must have a valid driver's license with no restrictions that would limit the ability to perform job functions.
Responsibilities
- Licensing of Foster Parents : Maintain knowledge of current licensing regulations and Department of Child Services procedural updates; advise the Regional Manager of such.
- Licensing of Foster Parents : Recommend licensure of foster homes in accordance with Indiana state regulations.
- Licensing of Foster Parents : Assess applicants' appropriateness to foster in consultation with the Regional Manager and in accordance with Indiana Administrative Code.
- Licensing of Foster Parents : Inform potential foster parents about the White's Foster Parent Agreement and assess their ability / willingness to provide care.
- Recruitment of Foster Parents : Promote foster care in the region via media, community events, and professional presentations.
- Recruitment of Foster Parents : Respond to foster parent inquiries in a timely manner.
- Recruitment of Foster Parents : Update the Regional Manager, Intake Specialist, and Family Specialists on applicant preferences to aid recruitment goals.
- Recruitment of Foster Parents : Interview prospective foster parents with the Regional Manager.
- Public Relations : Market White's programs and services according to the agency's strategic plan.
- Public Relations : Attend community events for networking as appropriate.
- Support and Retention : Address licensing issues and mediate resolutions with the Department of Child Services in consultation with the Regional Manager.
- Support and Retention : Maintain a good working relationship with foster parents through retention visits and regular communication.
- Support and Retention : Supplement staff efforts to encourage and support foster families.
- Support and Retention : Monitor foster parent records to ensure accuracy and compliance with training hours and licensure documents.
- Support and Retention : Advocate for foster parents' rights related to services and supports.
- Foster Parent Training : Coordinate and provide all pre-service training, including first aid training, per State regulations.
- Foster Parent Training : Facilitate in-service trainings to help foster parents meet Department of Child Services requirements.
- Intake / Case Management : Consult with intake staff to assess and identify appropriate foster parent matches for referred children.
- Intake / Case Management : Assist with case management as needed.
- Skills, Supervision, Knowledge, and Ability : Commit to working with potential foster parents, staff, and the public; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries; communicate effectively; work well with team; assess abilities and therapeutic capacity of potential foster parents; maintain licensing records; interact empathetically with all stakeholders; maintain appropriate hygiene and attire; be dependable and exercise sound decision making; support the mission and values of White's Residential and Family Services.
- Physical Demands : Ability to drive long distances to visit foster homes and climb steps to access foster homes.
- Working Conditions : Licensing work involves visiting diverse neighborhoods; office hours typically 8 : 00 a.m.–4 : 30 p.m.; some activities outside standard hours; on-call rotated as needed; attend trainings.
