PCU Nursing Job Details

Location : Indianapolis, IN 46202 – Prime downtown healthcare job location near parks, museums, and entertainment

Unit : A5 South Neuro Trauma Surgical Progressive Care Unit

Contract Type : Travel nursing contract

Start Date : January 5, 2026

End Date : April 6, 2026

Duration : 13-week contract

Shift : Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07 : 00 - 19 : 30)

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1660 - $1700

Patient Ratio : 1 : 3-4 (occasionally 5 during emergencies)

First Time Travel Nurses : Accepted

Weekend Requirement : Flexible; 50% of weekends during contract

Floating : Required within hospital and affiliate healthcare facilities

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana nursing jobs – license must be in hand prior to start date)

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Proficient neuro nursing experience and management of cardiac drips

Telemetry experience required

Previous charge nurse experience required

Ability to float to Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU units

Willingness to precept and mentor students

Two supervisor references required

Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

Local Indiana residents not eligible for this travel nurse position

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex neuro and trauma diagnoses (CVAs, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, seizures, TBIs, post-surgical cases)

Manage and monitor telemetry and neuro stepdown patients

Administer and titrate cardiac drips, manage arterial and central lines, and provide wound care

Perform pre- and post-neurosurgery care, manage feeding tubes, lumbar drains, and surgical drains

Interpret and manage dysrhythmias

Float to Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU units as needed

Participate in charge nurse duties and provide leadership

Support and mentor students and new staff in a teaching hospital environment

Maintain flexibility with scheduling, including weekend and holiday coverage
