Job Summary

Cloud Security Engineer – PayPal global Cloud Security and Automation team. The role focuses on designing and deploying native cloud security solutions, automating security controls, and proactively identifying threats across multiple cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Essential Responsibilities

  • Apply security best practices to enhance system protection and efficiency.
  • Partner with peers and internal teams to drive security initiatives and co‑lead cross‑functional projects.
  • Analyze and resolve security challenges by adapting standard processes and innovating solutions for complex threats.
  • Influence team quality, efficiency, and effectiveness through informed decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with engineers to gather feedback and continuously improve security processes.

Day‑to‑Day Duties

  • Onboard cloud accounts (Azure, AWS, GCP) – manage access, configure policies, baseline checks, agent setup, and health verification.
  • Administer CSPM solutions – manage user roles, audit logs, API access.
  • Discover cloud assets and maintain visibility.
  • Configure security policies and benchmarks, including industry compliance (PCI, CIS, NIST).
  • Respond to alerts – monitor, investigate, triage incidents.
  • Implement OS hardening – administer baseline and hardening procedures.
  • Integrate with third‑party systems (ITSM, CI / CD tools) and manage related changes.
  • Provide remediation guidance to stakeholders and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Generate reports for business and stakeholders.

    • Expected Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, OR an equivalent blend of education and experience.
  • Strong cloud security knowledge (GCP, AWS).
  • Experience with CSPM, infrastructure‑as‑code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform).
  • Hands‑on experience with Docker / Kubernetes.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Collaborative mindset for cross‑functional work.

    • Nice to Have

  • Cloud native security tools management.
  • Experience managing CSPM solutions (e.g., Wiz).
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with industry cybersecurity standards (PCI, ISO, NIST, CIS, SOC 2).
  • Basic DFIR processes in cloud environments.
  • Agile methodology knowledge.

    • Compensation

    The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $123,500 to $212,850. Compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
