EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time Vice President, Construction & Deployment for one of our partners that is building the future of sustainable mobility through pioneering electric vehicle charging infrastructure. As a leader in deploying fast, accessible, and efficient DC fast charging stations integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems across the Northeast and beyond, this organization is committed to creating world-class energy infrastructure to enable mass adoption of electric transportation. In this position, you will lead the physical execution and delivery of EV charging station sites, managing all aspects of field construction from contractor oversight and permitting through final installation and commissioning, while scaling a network of active sites and building operational systems that support a fast-growing portfolio of high-impact clean energy infrastructure. This position reports directly to the COO and is hybrid, mostly remote, with 50-75% of the time traveling to regional job sites.
Responsibilities
Direct complete field deployment lifecycle for DC fast charging and Battery Energy Storage System projects at multiple site locations
Manage civil, electrical, and utility construction activities, including installation of BESS cabinets and equipment mounting systems
Provide oversight of construction teams and subcontracted personnel while maintaining quality standards, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety
Address and resolve construction challenges, site conflicts, and project delays as they arise in the field
Manage comprehensive contractor bidding activities from scope development and bid package distribution through proposal evaluation and subcontractor award
Verify that contractor bids meet competitive pricing standards, adhere to project specifications, and support planned deployment schedules
Partner with the Project Coordinator to synchronize bidding timelines with project milestones and integrate awarded contractors into the delivery framework
Prepare sites for BESS installations through coordination of foundation preparation and thermal management system readiness
Manage integration and interconnection of BESS units with EV charging equipment and utility grid infrastructure
Validate proper system sizing, fire safety code adherence, and BESS integration in collaboration with energy engineering teams
Assess and confirm the buildability of design plans for both EV charging and BESS installations
Contribute early-stage feedback regarding utility service requirements and field installation limitations
Document and communicate actual field conditions to support continuous design improvement
Direct all permitting activities, including BESS-related fire safety approvals and local zoning requirements
Collaborate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction, utility companies, and municipal permitting offices to obtain necessary project approvals
Enable utility interconnection processes and coordinate required equipment upgrades with utility service providers
Control multiple concurrent deployment projects through the use of project management software platforms
Create project schedules and monitor key performance indicators such as site energization duration, per-site costs, and safety incident rates
Establish and control project budgets encompassing all BESS-related expenditures
Direct procurement activities and evaluate contractor work quality and performance
Guarantee on-time delivery of equipment and accurate processing of all vendor invoices
Recruit, develop, and manage an expanding construction workforce to achieve deployment objectives
Create standardized, repeatable processes and documentation templates for project execution
Recognize and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency
Requirements
Minimum of 5–10+ years in construction project management or EPC leadership roles
Demonstrated background in managing electric vehicle charging infrastructure projects and / or Battery Energy Storage System installations
Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, including permitting processes and trenching operations
Working knowledge of utility grid interconnection procedures and load management techniques
Track record of managing BESS construction projects in accordance with regulatory standards (NFPA 855, UL 9540 / 9540A)
Capable of reading and interpreting electrical schematics and construction blueprints
Proven ability to lead and direct construction personnel and subcontracted teams
Technical competency in Procore, Salesforce, Excel, and NetSuite software platforms
Preferred Qualifications
Background working with Level 3 DC fast charging systems integrated with Battery Energy Storage Solutions
Electrical Contractor license or working knowledge of National Electrical Code and fire safety regulations
OSHA safety certification or comparable construction site safety credentials
Understanding of clean energy funding program requirements (NEVI, state grant initiatives)
