ICU Nurse Position Summary

As an ICU RN, you'll operate autonomously in a dynamic and fast-paced unit, applying expert critical thinking and nursing judgment to manage complex cases. You'll treat patients experiencing serious medical conditions, support long-term care goals, and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams-all while guiding and mentoring other healthcare providers as needed.

Primary Responsibilities - ICU RN

Deliver Specialized Critical Care : Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing interventions to critically ill or unstable patients, addressing both immediate needs and long-term recovery plans.

Monitor and Assess Continuously : Observe patient responses, evaluate changes in condition, and administer appropriate medical interventions with urgency and precision.

Coordinate with the Healthcare Team : Communicate and collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, respiratory therapists, and other care providers to ensure optimal outcomes.

Administer Advanced Therapies : Manage IV infusions, ventilator support, emergency medications, and transfusions in compliance with ICU best practices.

Support Patient and Family Wellbeing : Educate and emotionally support families during high-stress situations, providing transparency and compassion throughout the care journey.

Exhibit Core Nursing Competencies : Apply standards I-IV in alignment with clinical protocols and nursing excellence guidelines.

Technical Skills & Core Competencies

• Experienced in processing electronic medical orders and maintaining accurate documentation
• Proficient in using and troubleshooting ICU-specific diagnostic and monitoring equipment
• Skilled in interpreting patient histories, lab values, and critical care charts
• Committed to maintaining safety standards, preventing errors, and participating in near-miss reviews
