Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level II Trauma Emergency Department position requiring a compact or AL RN license, trauma experience, and proficiency with Cerner EMR.
Responsibilities
Work in a high-acuity 71-bed Level II Trauma Center Emergency DepartmentPatient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB / GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric casesPatient ratios are 1 : 4 in the ER, 1 : 5 for medical-surgical holds, and 1 : 3 for ICU holdsEquipment and systems include Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitorsSupport available from CNAs, reception / HUC staff, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV / VAT team, and hospitalistsNo floating requiredShift options include 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, and 3p-3a on a 4-week schedule cycleWeekend rotation required with either every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month, depending on block schedulingNo on-call requirementHoliday coverage required per policy for one major and one minor holidayResponsibilities include caring for high-acuity trauma and medical emergency patients with a wide range of conditionsOrientation includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit for new or returning travelers who have been gone more than a yearUnit supported by a multidisciplinary team including CNAs, HUCs, a charge nurse, and hospitalistsScrub attire requires any solid colorUp to 7 days of approved time off may be granted, excluding blackout datesParking is provided in a parking garageCOVID-19 vaccination is not required for this positionRequirements
Active AL or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent critical care experience (ER or ICU), with the most recent year in a Level II ERFirst-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of Level II Trauma or higher experience and Cerner or Epic proficiencyRequired certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, Secure / CPI (nationally recognized / JACHO accepted), NIHSS, and TNCCExperience with trach care, vent care, ICU drip care and maintenance, chest tube, art line, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley, orthopedic device application, BiPAP / high-flow, and continuous bladder irrigationCerner EMR experience requiredNo local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radiusPerm staff must wait 6 months after employment before being considered for a traveler positionBenefits
