Responsibilities Work in a hospital-based echocardiography / cardiac sonography unit Day shifts with variable start times Monday through Friday and occasional weekend coverage Occasional call may be required to support patient care needs Patient population includes primarily adults and geriatrics, with occasional adolescent and pediatric exams Perform transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography, as well as carotid duplex exams Work involves both stationary and portable ultrasound equipment Floating to multiple units or locations may be required based on staffing needs Independently perform and adapt non-invasive cardiac ultrasound studies and record results and preliminary clinical impressions Assist with training and act as a clinical instructor for students, residents, and visiting physicians Participate as a clinical resource for the facility and potentially in clinical research projects Orientation typically lasts one week and may occur on varying start dates Strict adult and pediatric telemetry exam must be passed before starting clinical duties, with up to two attempts permitted Standard rotation includes weekend and some holiday coverage Dress code requirements (such as scrubs) will be provided prior to start First-time travelers are accepted in some units No references required for consideration Requirements Minimum one year of cardiac sonography experience required Registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS) required Active BLS certification through the American Heart Association required Completion of a CAAHEP-approved ultrasound program or Associate Degree in a related health science field License required if applicable Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted Pass / fail telemetry exam required prior to start, with strict passing criteria Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625165.
