Description

  • Assess individuals of all ages-infants, adults, and the elderly-using a blend of standardized evaluations and nuanced observational methods.
  • Create customized treatment plans geared towards both immediate challenges and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing goals.
  • Engage patients in focused one-on-one speech therapy sessions, emphasizing areas such as language, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing techniques.
  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, including physical and occupational therapists, doctors, caregivers, and family members to coordinate effective treatment strategies.
  • Educate both patients and their families, providing tools and support that extend the learning beyond the therapy room.
  • Occasionally, conduct inpatient therapy evaluations and interventions to ensure an uninterrupted continuum of care on their journey to recovery.
  • Keep thorough and timely documentation that meets all clinical and regulatory standards.
  • Commit to lifelong learning by staying updated on the latest practices through workshops and collaborative discussions with colleagues.

Education

  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if you're not yet ASHA-certified.
  • Certifications

  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Preferred : Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of starting your role.
  • Skills

  • Expertise in evidence-based treatment strategies for various age groups, coupled with a thorough understanding of speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional communication skills that foster positive interactions with patients, their families, and members of the healthcare team.
