Location : 100% REMOTE

Start Date Is : ASAP

Duration : 6 Month Contract to Hire

Compensation Range : $65-75 / hr on W2 ONLY (no c2c or sponsorships)

Job Description :

Support and enhance DB2 for i platforms by managing database operations, optimizing performance, and collaborating with development teams to ensure reliable deployments.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities :

Review and optimize complex SQL queries on DB2 for i

Support shared services : ticket handling, data changes, and query reviews

Triage production issues using iDoctor, database tracers, visual explain, etc.

Participate in overnight on-call rotation for database deployments

Join and contribute to daily operational meetings

Recommend tools and platform improvements

Document procedures and mentor junior engineers

Requirements : Must-Haves :

5 years of hands-on DBA experience with DB2 for i (DB2 / 400)

Deep knowledge of IBM i server and Db2 for i platform

Proficient in complex SQL development and database optimization

Understanding of OLTP / OLAP concepts

Experience with tools like Client, plan cache, and iDoctor

Nice-to-Haves :

Background as an RPG programmer

Experience with DevOps and Agile methodologies

Familiarity with build management and CI tools
