American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Stepdown / Telemetry position in acute care for night shifts, requiring 2 years of recent stepdown experience and strong med-surg skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position based in a 32-bed stepdown unit in an acute care hospital settingPatient assignment ratios are 1 : 3 for stepdown and 1 : 4 for combination stepdown / floorTypical patient population includes post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients12-hour night shifts from 1900 to 0730Weekend requirement is 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week scheduleNo call or standby responsibilitiesFloating is very rareCare team includes charge nurse, house supervisors, and 3-4 CNAs per shiftUses Epic EMR for chartingRNs are responsible for telemetry monitoring with centralized telemetry and monitor tech supportUnit requires titration of specified drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and LasixRNs are expected to provide assessment, monitoring, and management of stepdown patients with moderate acuityRNs will titrate drips with strict adherence to provider orders and established protocolsTeam receives support from charge nurses, house supervisors, and CNAsBiPap and tracheostomy patients are present but no ventilators on unitCentralized telemetry and bedside monitors used for rhythm observationsRoyal blue scrubs are requiredThree shifts of unit orientation provided on arrivalPass / fail EKG testing may be required before assignmentHoliday coverage may be required as neededNot accepting local candidates within 50 miles of the facility\n \n Requirements\n
Active WV or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years of recent stepdown experience with strong med-surg skillsCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, and NIHSSAbility to titrate IV drips and interpret telemetry rhythmsMust be fully COVID vaccinated unless approved for medical / religious exemptionDriver’s license address must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facilityRNs must be able to read and chart telemetry strips as part of the assessment every 4 hoursPrevious permanent staff must have a 2-year gap before being considered againTravelers who previously completed a full year assignment at the facility must have a 2-year break before returning\n Benefits\n
