NRDC is seeking a Data Management Specialist to work with the Development team in our New York office.

Position Summary

This role reports to the Director of Data Management and is part of a cross-functional team. The Specialist will support Salesforce and focus on audience segmentation for direct response marketing, working closely with stakeholders to define and execute complex data queries.

The position is part of the bargaining unit represented by The Washington Baltimore News Guild (WBNG / The Newsguild-CWA Local 32035).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to analyze and segment donor populations for targeted campaigns, including fundraising, advocacy, and stewardship.
  • Manage data integration into campaign planning and execution.
  • Lead the Direct Mail audience segmentation workflow.
  • Coordinate with departments to align on campaign targets and data use.
  • Develop and prepare reporting solutions, including standard and ad-hoc reports.
  • Own the segmentation process : identify opportunities, recommend improvements, and implement automations for efficiency.
  • Act as liaison between Development users and IT / Data Infrastructure teams to integrate donor data and fundraising systems.
  • Maintain data management practices, including hygiene, accounts, contacts, campaigns, donations, dashboards, and reports.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with SQL queries using PostgreSQL, SQL Server
  • Experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse
  • Salesforce experience required; admin certification preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills; Power Query preferred
  • Tableau experience preferred
  • Skills, Abilities, & Competencies

  • Knowledge of dataflows, ELT / ETL concepts (preferred)
  • Ability to translate data insights into campaign strategies
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of direct response fundraising mechanisms
  • Experience with data segmentation in fundraising environments
  • Travel less than 20%

    NRDC operates under a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence 8 days / month.
