Do you enjoy working with immigrant and refugee youth? Do you find fulfillment in helping young people reach their educational, vocational, and social goals? If so, the Teen Program Assistant position at the International Institute of St. Louis (IISTL) could be the perfect fit for you!

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and energetic individual to join our Youth Mentoring Program - a one-on-one mentoring program that pairs ORR-eligible youth with adult volunteers to support their integration and success in the St. Louis community.

As a Teen Program Assistant , you'll provide direct support to youth clients and their mentors, assist with case management and goal planning, and help coordinate program events and field trips. This is a part-time position (16 hours per week) that offers meaningful, hands-on experience in youth development and immigrant services.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support (approx. 90%)

Provide culturally competent, equitable client services with minimal supervision.

Assist the Program Coordinator with intakes, assessments, and goal-setting for youth participants.

Conduct regular check-ins with youth and mentors to monitor progress and offer support.

Provide basic case management and referrals for educational, vocational, and social needs.

Help prepare and implement program activities, group events, and field trips; chaperone as needed.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and progress in the database.

Support evaluation and end-of-session activities.

Additional Duties (approx. 10%)

Participate in departmental and agency meetings or community events.

Assist with special projects and administrative tasks as needed to ensure program success.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

High school diploma required; some college coursework preferred.

Experience working with youth or English language learners, especially in educational or social service settings.

Skills & Competencies

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Enthusiasm for working with immigrant and refugee youth (ages 14–24).

Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team environment.

Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Flexibility to adapt to changing program needs.

Other Requirements

Availability for occasional evening or weekend activities.

Must not exceed 16 hours per week without supervisor authorization.
