Sunshine Disposal & Recycling has an opening for a full time Refuse Truck Driver in our Airway Heights, WA business unit. Job duties include operation of Rear Load style as well as Automated style garbage trucks in residential and commercial locations. This is a Monday-Friday shift with a 5 : 00am start time. Some seasonal overtime may be required. Current Wage is $28.08 per hour and includes wage bumps of fifty cents every 6 months up to 36 months of employment; as well as annual COLA beginning in 2027. Basic computer literacy is required, and OJT is provided for industry specific programs. Class A or B CDL is required. Air Brake Certificate and valid DOT medical card are required. Applicants must meet insurability requirements and comply with US DOT drug screening rules. Two (2) years CDL driving experience of similar vehicles is required. GENERAL JOB DUTIES (may be changed as business needs warrant) :
1. Arrives to work on time and receives paperwork and tablet data for daily route. Performs Pre-trip inspection of the truck to make sure everything is operating correctly, and maintenance is not necessary. If the truck is operating correctly, leaves yard for route work.
2. Drives truck on fixed route on a weekly basis collecting refuse, recycling, or organics debris from carts, personal cans, and / or rear load dumpsters using the hydraulic equipment on the truck.
3. Communicates effectively with the Lead Driver / Supervisor to ensure that there are no dispatch issues or issues with the route for the day.
4. Dumps the truck at the end of the day and cleans body and cab.
5. Conducts a Post trip inspection of the truck after route is finished for the day and informs the Lead Driver and Maintenance Shop of any maintenance areas necessary.
6. Submits route sheet information and tablet data containing extra charges and other customer notes each day.
7. Attends all necessary meetings as scheduled including safety meetings.
8. Performs special projects for Lead Driver, Operations Manager or other Management Team Members
9. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement
USDOT Medical Certificate (med card)
Must meet insurance carrier requirements for driving record
Subject to USDOT / FMCSA drug and alcohol testing rules
