Snowcat Operator / Experienced Slope Groomer
Winter Park is currently hiring for Snowcat Operator / Experienced Slope Groomer positions. Our snowcat operators work throughout the night preparing a world-class snow surface for the enjoyment of our guests. Snowcat operators work within a team environment with a focus on safety, quality and efficiency. Winch training available for qualified candidates. This position has potential for year-round employment.
Essential duties include :
- Pre-operational checks of snowcats and other equipment
- Participation in nightly team meeting
- Receive nightly assignments from the Grooming Supervisor
- Understand the nightly snow management objectives
- Safe operation of slope grooming equipment with minimal supervision
- Completion of dozing and grooming of assigned trails to the highest standard
- Repairing / communicating any trail issues such as rocks or thin spots
- Completion of other snowcat projects as assigned
- Fueling of equipment using safe practices
- Post-operational check of machines, clean off snow, clean cab
- Maintaining accurate logs on equipment used
- Communicating any equipment issues with the heavy equipment mechanics
- Housekeeping of work areas / shop areas / equipment
- Maintain a positive attitude throughout the season
- Assist in training of less experienced operators
- Performance of other duties as directed.
Knowledge, skill and ability requirements include :
Valid, non-restricted motor vehicle driver's licensePrevious snowcat experienceKnowledge of slope maintenance objectives and techniquesAdvanced grooming skillsWinch cat experience, preferredFamiliarity with Winter Park's trail system, preferredSkiing / riding ability, preferredReliable transportation to / from work at hours outside normal business hoursPunctuality and ability to meet assigned work scheduleAbility to work night hours, weekends and holidaysFirst aid training, preferredPhysical demands and working conditions include :
This position is required to work evenings and / or overnight, weekends and holidays while in operation.Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 60 pounds on an occasional basis, and a minimum of 20 pounds on a frequent basis.Ability to work for extended periods of time while seated.Manual dexterity to operate hand tools such as shovels and basic mechanic's tools.Ability to work outside in any and all weather conditions, including but not limited to rain, snow, sleet, high winds, and cold temperatures.Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily- reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The base hourly pay range for this position is $22.50-$28.50 based on experience.
