A Day In The Life

As the Senior Manager, Business Tax, you will lead and manage pass-through tax compliance and planning for The Friedkin Group's large operating entities. Your focus will be compliance for S corporations and operating partnerships across multiple states, where complexity arises from the scale of operations and transactions rather than the sheer volume of entities / K-1s. You will be a key advisor to business leaders and shareholders, interfacing broadly across functions, and collaborating closely with the tax leadership team to progress the business tax framework to meet our organization's evolving needs. This role is designed to pave the way to a Director position.

In this role, you will :

  • Oversee accurate and timely filing of business tax returns (emphasizing Form 1120S), quarterly tax projections, and tax provisions.
  • Manage multi-state apportionment, composite / withholding taxes as applicable, sales & use considerations, and franchise tax.
  • Coordinate and oversee state, federal, and sales tax audits, if required.
  • Collaborate with the tax leadership team to specialize in business operations, providing consultative tax strategies and maximizing tax efficiencies.
  • Advise on tax-effective transaction executions and explore strategic opportunities for acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Standardize and automate workflows to enhance quality and cycle-time improvements while working with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Conduct research on complex tax issues and present findings clearly to management.
  • Ensure tax compliance accurately reflects the business's facts and circumstances and that tax planning strategies are effectively executed.
  • Collaborate with the Family Office to ensure alignment of tax strategies impacting shareholders.
  • Monitor legislation changes, court decisions, and IRS / state rulings to provide actionable insights on minimizing tax implications.
  • Lead and mentor a small team, setting priorities and fostering professional growth.
  • What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 7-9 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 7 years in public accounting, is required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Federal business tax regarding S-corporations and partnership regulations.
  • Experience in strategic business structuring and transaction planning.
  • Competence in research, analysis, and modeling / forecasting.
  • Ability to articulate complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders effectively.
  • Proactive strategic thinker with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
  • Skilled in identifying and implementing process enhancements.
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) upon hire.
  • Physical and Environmental Requirements

The physical requirements necessary for this role include daily data analysis and interpretation, effective communication, and the ability to remain stationary for extended periods, frequently accessing and inputting information via computer and productivity devices. Associates may need to navigate the office and corporate campus regularly and must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

    Travel Requirements

Expect to travel up to 20%.
