Description

The Division of Family Support invites you to join a unique opportunity to build an effective and efficientsystem of care, support, and assistance for Kentucky citizens who need it most. Family Support seeks a FamilySupport Specialist III to monitor state DCBS (Department of Community Based Services) offices and contractingofficials for accuracy, promptness, and compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures that dealwith the provision of public assistance programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Determines eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and KentuckyTransitional Assistance Program (KTAP) for individuals in Adult Guardianship. Works with Fiduciary Services toensure proper entitlement and benefits. Review the work of Family Support Specialists for technical accuracyand program knowledge.
  • Determines eligibility for Medicaid, SNAP, and KTAP for individuals in Adult Guardianship.
  • Issues Emergency Medical Benefits for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients statewide by workingdirectly with the Social Security Administration (SSA) to issue Medicaid eligibility to SSI recipients whohave moved from out-of-state or recipients who have won appeals.
  • Issues retroactive Medicaid benefits for SSI approvals for individuals meeting the required criteria.
  • Acts as liaison to the Division of Guardianship Services when their position or guardian is not recognized toget the information needed to determine eligibility.
  • Reviews the work of Family Support Specialists for technical accuracy and program knowledge. Participates indeveloping and monitoring corrective action plans to assist with the statewide Medicaid error rate.
  • Interprets policy and procedures, regulations, and laws for cases statewide. Maintains case records for DAILand adheres to policy and procedures for these cases.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience working in Worker Portal.
  • Experience determining eligibility for Medicaid and SNAP.

    Minimum Requirements

    EDUCATION : Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS : One year of experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for, or administering the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program, Child Care Assistance Program, Medical Assistance, or other public assistance programs.

    Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE : NONE

    Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION : Experience in social work, counseling, providing direct services to individuals and / or families (i.e., employment services, community action agencies), or experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for and / or administering the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program, Child Care Assistance Program, Medical Assistance, or other public assistance programs will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    Working Conditions

    Performs job duties in an office setting and / or visits clients in homes.

    Probationary Period

    This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
