Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Position Overview :
We are looking for a certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide virtual instruction and support to K12 students with visual impairments in Delaware. In this role, you will work with students, families, and school staff through online platforms to ensure access to curriculum, development of compensatory skills, and progress toward IEP goals.
Responsibilities :
Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in a remote setting.
Adapt instructional materials and collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and related service providers.
Develop, monitor, and report on Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals; participate in IEP meetings.
Provide instruction in braille, assistive technology, and other compensatory skills; coordinate orientation and mobility support as needed.
Partner with families and school staff to build understanding of visual impairments and strategies for student success.
Maintain accurate documentation in line with state and district requirements.
Qualifications :
Bachelors or Masters degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field.
Delaware teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
Prior experience working with students with visual impairments; virtual teaching experience a plus.
Knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional methods.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
