Reset Merchandiser Job Description
The Reset Merchandiser is responsible for executing product placements, store resets, remodels, and display updates according to company and client standards. This role involves maintaining product availability, building promotional displays, following planograms, and ensuring all merchandise is presented accurately and attractively. The position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a reset or remodel team in a retail environment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Merchandising and Store Maintenance
- Maintain products stocked on store racks, shelves, displays, and coolers.
- Identify replenishment needs and restock shelves as required.
- Transport products between backrooms and sales floors using manual equipment.
- Utilize hand tools such as box cutters, screwdrivers, and planogram measuring tools.
- Build and dismantle product displays, endcaps, and promotional fixtures.
- Clean and maintain product display areas and signage.
- Remove expired, damaged, or defective merchandise.
- Organize and consolidate backroom inventory to ensure efficiency and accessibility.
- Record and report inventory levels and replenishment activity.
- Maintain assigned sections of responsibility at each account location.
- Identify and report unsafe working conditions to store or company management.
- Provide courteous, professional customer service to store staff and consumers.
Reset / Remodel Responsibilities
Execute store resets and remodels following planograms, schematics, and diagrams.Move, assemble, and reposition shelving, gondolas, and fixtures as part of store layout changes.Set new product sections and categories in alignment with updated merchandising plans.Install, remove, or update signage, product labels, and shelf tags.Remove discontinued or outdated items and process returns when necessary.Collaborate with reset teams and store personnel to complete remodels on schedule.Verify accuracy of product placement and compliance with planogram standards.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area during resets and remodels.Use ladders, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely and efficiently.Work independently or collaboratively within a team environment to complete assigned resets and remodels efficiently and accurately.Administrative and Compliance
Attend and complete all required company training, certifications, and safety courses.Follow company and store policies regarding display floors, backrooms, safety, and equipment usage.Adhere to local, state, and federal laws regarding the use of mobile devices while driving.Operate a personal motor vehicle to commute between assigned store locations.Use personal vehicle to travel to assigned accounts, following mileage and reimbursement policies.Physical Requirements
Repetitive lifting, carrying, and positioning of objects weighing up to 75 lbs. without assistance.Repetitive pushing and pulling of objects up to 50 pounds without assistance, including kneeling, squatting, reaching above the head, reaching at the waist, and bending at the knees.Repetitive pushing and pulling of manual transport equipment containing product loads for distances of at least 100 yards.Frequent grasping and manipulating objects of varying sizes and weights.Requires fine motor skills and strong hand-eye coordination.Ability to exert physical effort over sustained periods to complete resets or remodels.Ability to read information in small, medium, and large print.Ability to stand for a minimum of 6 hours and walk up to 4 miles during a typical workday.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required).Previous merchandising, reset, or retail experience preferred.Ability to read, interpret, and execute planograms or schematic diagrams.Reliable transportation and valid drivers license required.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to meet project goals and deadlines.Flexible schedule availability, including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
