Job Description

The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is seeking a Hazardous Building Material / Industrial Hygiene Project Manager for immediate employment with the Northeast department of the EHS & Air Practice. This candidate will report to the Boston, MA, Chelmsford, MA, or Manchester, NH office. The role combines technical project execution with business development, requiring a balance of expertise, project management skills, and business acumen to grow the business while delivering exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and / or self-performing hazardous building material and industrial hygiene projects for private and public-sector clients.
  • Collaborating with licensed professionals and technical specialists on survey, investigation, abatement / remediation design, and execution.
  • Providing technical and regulatory leadership on a New England, U.S., and international basis.
  • Developing proposals, including scope, budgets, and schedules for hazardous material and industrial hygiene projects.
  • Managing or reviewing technical work and field activities, ensuring compliance with contract scope, budget, schedule, and regulatory standards.
  • Preparing written reports, work plans, and technical memoranda; analyzing data to support conclusions.
  • Collaborating across EHS, Environment Business Line, and other internal lines.
  • Identifying opportunities to increase project efficiencies and add value to client service offerings.
  • Supporting department growth through internal and external sales initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA / BS + 8 years of experience or equivalent.
  • Technical experience directly related to building hazardous material (asbestos, lead paint, etc.).
  • Industrial hygiene, mold, or indoor air quality experience.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.
  • EPA AHERA Asbestos Inspector Certification.
  • New England state asbestos licenses (MA, ME, NH, CT) or eligibility to obtain them.
  • Valid driver's license and successful AECOM motor-vehicle records review.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • EPA Asbestos Management Planner, Project Designer, Supervisor, or Lead Risk Assessor.
  • New England state asbestos designer licenses (MA, CT, ME).
  • Experience in strategy and growth plan development and execution.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional.
  • Experience developing scope, fee, and terms for interdisciplinary hazardous material proposals.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and change priorities.
  • Experience interacting with architects and engineers on building renovation designs requiring asbestos / hazardous material program requirements.
  • Experience managing and mentoring technical teams; managing public and private sector projects of various sizes.
  • Experience building client relationships and business development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, technical writing, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Internally driven, self-starter, team-oriented.
  • Additional Information

  • Relocation is not available.
  • Sponsorship is not available.
  • Willing to travel out-of-town for durations ranging from one week to three months, as needed. Travel will vary greatly and depend on workload.
  • Compensation

    Offered rate will be based on education, experience, and location. The range for this position is $105,000 to $150,000 per year.
