Our mission is to motivate and inspire our customers to PUT THEIR BEST FOOT FORWARD. We’re seeking a Sr Art Director to lead the creative vision for the Stores, CRM and Loyalty program at DSW. Your role will include leading creative storytelling / execution by collaborating with channel partners to drive innovation for the channel. By partnering with other creative leaders such as the Head of Copy, this role will be leading a team of designers to ensure creative success at all levels.

  • You and your team play a role and are responsible for bringing DSW brand experiences to life in channels where highly motivated DSW shoppers engage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate should possess a strong track record of creative excellence, fresh and progressive thinking, and collaboration. This individual will lead the brand creative expression for DSW’s Marketing in-stores, CRM and VIP channels. This role is responsible for translating design concepts and marketing needs into inspiring and effective stories and campaigns—ensuring consistent brand expression in Stores, email, CRM, and VIP program experiences.
  • You’ll lead and direct multiple cross-functional relationships, mentor designers, and drive multiple projects with a clear design voice and an unbending creative rigor. You’ll present creative work to cross-functional partners, leaders, graphic designers and are responsible for execution of work. Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Drive innovative solutions for digital storytelling across Stores, DSW CRM and DSW VIP loyalty and other digital touch-points
  • Owns cross functional relationships with Strategy, Loyalty, Customer Retention, Brand Creative, Creative Directors, Other Art Directors to concept and execute marketing campaigns
  • Serve as a strong team leader and collaborator—ensuring the team is working towards the same brand vision for DSW, setting high standards of creative excellence and fostering a highly creative and collaborative team culture
  • Help evaluate talent and develop staffing plans to support business demands. Act as a coach and mentor to associates, providing them with development opportunities.
  • Utilizes outstanding design skills and demonstrates innovation in creating original solutions
  • Communicates and presents design concepts; builds presentation materials that successfully communicate design concepts
  • Demonstrates expert-level knowledge of Retail and CRM channels. Ability to drive and innovate in the Stores, CRM and Loyalty space. Expert knowledge of best practices, marketing trends, new and innovative processes and / or partners / vendors that will elevate creative output.
  • An innovative and curious forward-thinker that can / will explore and execute new, innovative ideas and align with test & learn strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and grow a team
  • Demonstrated experience with goal setting and delegating responsibilities
  • A collaborative and passionate champion of the brand, the customer, and the DSW business. Can understand and integrate creative decisions to overall business strategies and KPIs.

  • Who You Will Work With

  • You will be collaborating with the functions on our Marketing team (VP Creative, Creative Director, Other Art Directors, Marketing / Retail Strategy, Marketing Operations, Traffic, Copywriting, Project Managers, Marketing Channel Owners) as well as Stores Design and Stores Operations teams.
  • Required Skills

  • Retail creative marketing experience in-store, web and email required
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design or equivalent experience in retail, brand or marketing fields
  • 10+ years of experience in print, digital design and production with track record of leading a team to developing, communicating and implementing workflows and quality control
  • Ability to produce high-end digital design experiences, with a thorough understanding of how digital plays a functional role in campaign storytelling and consumer journey
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and workload / resource management
  • Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design or equivalent experience in retail, brand or marketing fields
