Position Summary
The Design Manager leads telecommunications design projects, ensuring designs are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. This role manages design teams, collaborates with internal departments, and coordinates with vendors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions that meet client and company goals.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee design deliverables to ensure compliance with client requirements, NEC/NESC codes, and project schedules.
Develop, review, and approve telecommunications site designs using field data and digital tools.
Collaborate with engineering, permitting, and construction teams to align designs with regulatory and project needs.
Manage external vendors and consultants supporting design activities.
Maintain design standards, templates, and approve final design and as-built packages.
Lead, mentor, and support design staff throughout the project lifecycle.
Implement and enforce QA/QC processes to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Advanced knowledge of telecommunications design standards, systems, and tools.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Pro).
Experience with Sitetracker and Smartsheets preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
5–10 years of telecommunications design and site development experience.
1–3 years of leadership or management experience.
