Veterinary Technician Assistant - Surgery

Full-time : 4 day, 10 hour shift or 5 day, 8 hour shift with possible on-call

Round Rock, Texas

Heart of Texas is looking for a Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You

Key Responsibilities :

Assist in preparing and setting up the operating room for surgeries

Clean and disinfect surgical suites before and after procedures

Sterilize surgical instruments using an autoclave

Assist the veterinarian during surgeries by handing off tools and supplies as needed

Maintain a sterile field and support surgical asepsis standards

Perform surgery room turnover between cases efficiently and thoroughly

Handle and restrain animals when necessary (pre- or post-surgery)

Monitor and replenish surgical supplies as needed

Follow all clinic protocols and safety procedures

Qualifications :

Previous experience in veterinary medicine, animal handling, or a similar clinical support role is required

• Experience with surgical prep or scrub tech duties is a plus

Comfortable working in a surgical environment, including handling instruments and assisting during procedures

Ability to stand, bend, and move for long periods during the shift

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, sterile work environment

Team player with strong communication and multitasking skills

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional veterinary or technical training is a plus
