You will design and implement backend services for our healthcare application platform with primary focus on integrating AI / ML capabilities into production systems. This role involves architecting RESTful APIs and microservices that process sensitive patient health data, requiring exceptional attention to performance optimization and scalability. You'll spend approximately 60% of your time on AI / NLP integration projects including implementing Azure Cognitive Services, building data pipelines for model consumption, and creating APIs that expose AI capabilities to frontend applications. The remaining 40% will focus on architecture modernization efforts including refactoring legacy systems, optimizing database queries and stored procedures, and establishing patterns for cloud-native application design. You will work closely with data scientists and frontend teams to ensure seamless integration of AI features while maintaining HIPAA compliance and data security standards. This position requires deep technical expertise in both traditional enterprise backend development and emerging AI / ML integration patterns. You'll need to navigate ambiguous requirements, communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and business stakeholders, and proactively surface risks and blockers.
