Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Building Systems Technician manages daily operations, preventative and corrective maintenance of power plant and HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, pumps, generators, fire alarms, pneumatic tube systems, and sprinkler systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, testing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing medical and non-medical equipment and building systems, including electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical systems. The role requires independent work, quick decision-making, and excellent communication to ensure high-quality patient care and customer satisfaction. Promotes teamwork and service excellence within Supply Chain Support Services.

Essential Functions

• Operate Power Plant, HVAC, and other building systems; document work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform repairs, installations, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting on various systems, ensuring high-quality, uninterrupted service to patients, staff, and visitors. Maintain and repair equipment using environmentally safe practices, including CFC handling, and keep certifications current.
• Conduct daily inspections of boilers, pipelines, high and low-pressure vessels, meters, and gauges. Adjust and operate equipment to maintain efficiency and meet occupant demands.
• Maintain technical expertise to ensure safe, reliable systems, code compliance, and operational efficiency. Chemically treat open and closed loop systems to protect equipment.
• Respond promptly and courteously to customer requests, resolving issues to high satisfaction standards.
• Assist colleagues on projects, providing repair and maintenance expertise.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair patient care equipment like lighting, beds, nurse call systems, and sinks. Perform general maintenance duties.
• Stay updated on laws, regulations, standards, and codes related to Power Plants and HVAC systems. Provide training to others for light maintenance tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
