Summary :

As a skilled Emergency Department Nurse, you will demonstrate independence and a keen awareness of clinical situations while providing both routine and complex nursing care. Your role includes setting long-range goals, managing contingencies in clinical practices, and making appropriate assignments to ensure effective care delivery.

The Emergency Department is a 12-bed unit designed for the immediate treatment of emergency medical and surgical conditions, with a medical provider available 24 / 7. It has been recognized as a Level IV Trauma Center by the Texas Department of Health. You will be responsible for initiating lifesaving procedures and providing emergency care for various conditions. Our average daily census is around 60 patients, including common diagnoses such as Myocardial Infarction, Congestive Heart Failure, Pneumonia, and more.

Our staff actively participates in educating the community on health and safety, and has been acknowledged for swift and efficient treatment of MI or stroke patients. We have implemented improvements to enhance patient flow and satisfaction, earning accolades such as the Silver Award from the American Heart Association for Stroke Care.

Responsibilities :

• Meet the expectations outlined in the OneCHRISTUS Competencies.
• Provide nursing care using the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address the complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols and monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document detailed patient histories, symptoms, medications, and delivered care.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
