Job description

The Department of Genetics at Stanford University is a leading center for genomic research, dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying human health and disease. The primary responsibilities of this job will be to pursue mechanistic studies of a neurodegenerative disease protein, identifying its interacting proteins and devising strategies to manipulate its function. Additional roles include performing and analyzing genetic screens using CRISPR libraries. Perform independent research projects aimed at defining mechanisms of human neurodegenerative diseases, writing reports, preparing manuscripts, communicating data with collaborators. Ph.D. in related field is required. Also required are knowledge of neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, iPSC culture, molecular biology, strong written and oral communication. Physical Requirements : Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet). The expected pay range for this position is $77,000 to $92,000 per annum. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years since their applicable education, field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; among other factors.
