American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Float Pool position requiring an active ND or compact RN license and prior med / surg experience.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in an acute care hospital environment on a 61-bed Med / Surg Float unit
  • Cares for both medical and surgical patients, including those with orthopedic, bariatric, urology, cardiac, and diabetic diagnoses
  • Day shifts are 12 hours with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 5 on days and 1 : 6 on nights
  • First to float as part of the float pool responsibilities
  • Uses the Epic EMR system
  • Monitors utilize monitor techs with RNs confirming strips
  • Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
  • Nurses will float as needed to other units based on patient needs
  • No drip titration responsibilities on the unit
  • Travelers receive unit-specific orientation and travel checklist
  • Any color of scrubs is acceptable for this unit
  • May not have worked for any CommonSpirit-related facilities in the past year in a direct hire role
  • Candidates with PRN status through an outside firm may be considered
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

    • Requirements

  • Active ND or compact RN license required and must be in hand
  • Minimum of 2 years recent medical-surgical nursing experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
  • Must have skills matching current med / surg nursing including confirmation of telemetry strips
  • Two references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the past 3 years, including employment dates and eligibility for rehire
  • Copy of a valid driver’s license required for consideration
