Job description

Schedule : M-F, weekends as needed

Salary based on experience and qualifications

  • Position Summary

The Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and performing routine maintenance of vehicles, tractors, semis and equipment to ensure peak performance, safety and longevity of equipment.

  • Essential Position Duties
  • Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned by the Diesel Shop Manager

    Perform in-field / on road machinery diagnostics and repairs as required

    Perform routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts

    Disassemble and reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments as necessary

    Record details of repairs made, and parts used

    Document machine information and repairs completed on work order, including parts and fluids used

    Maintain a clean work area, as well as care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety

    Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals

    Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in maintenance repairs and replacement

    Strong mechanical aptitude

    Excellent communication skills

    Strong attention to detail

    Ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.

    Possess organizational and time management skills

    Ability to work independently on a variety of equipment in a fast-paced environment

    Excellent trouble-shooting skills

    Ability to utilize technology to troubleshoot and repair equipment

  • Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent

    Associates degree

  • Experience
  • 2+ years mechanical experience

  • Essential Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift at least 100 lbs frequently
  • Ability to climb in and around vehicles and / or machinery
  • Frequently sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Frequently push, pull, bend, and reach
  • (Occasionally : 1-25% of the time; frequently : 26-75% of the time; constantly : 76-100% of the time)

    Pay : From $30.00 per hour
