Inventory Control Lead
Reports to the Warehouse Manager or Supervisor. Responsible for inventory maintenance and audit functions. Maintain inventory management program including but not limited to cycle counting, lot code management, product placement for efficient pick path, customer returns, vendor claims, inventory adjustments, audits, recalls, and reporting. This is a working lead position and requires performing the essential functions of the warehouse staff. Expected to be able to perform all aspects of the job as described below, uniquely focused on inventory functions, but may also support other areas of the warehouse operation as needed.
Essential Job Functions :
Abiding by company policies and procedures and informing management and the HR Department of personnel issues including performance, behavior, accommodation, and development.
Communicating with all employees in a professional manner.
Maintaining knowledge of systems, processes, and general business activities to execute root cause analysis, and support hands-on functions.
Utilizing labor and warehouse equipment for maximum accuracy and productivity in the most cost-effective manner.
Ensuring completion of all tasks and processes within area of responsibility.
Working and communicating with supervisors and managers to ensure efficient interdepartmental function transitions.
Assisting with development, implementation and administration of policies, procedures, and controls, including the company food safety program.
Communicating with the management team, other shifts, and other departments daily to maintain effective operations.
Partnering with Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager(s), Warehouse Supervisors, Transportation Manager and other Department Managers to meet site, business unit and company objectives.
Promoting a safe and efficient work environment for all employees.
Participating in the Safety Committee which includes daily inspections, follow-up on any safety concerns, and ensuring the safety of all employees, guests, vendors, etc. This includes walkthrough and promoting a safety culture.
Regular attendance and onsite presence.
Participating in daily management / supervision of quality systems and ensuring employees are following AIB and GDP requirements.
Crosstraining to support job duties of other Leads and supervisors, including other departments or shifts, if necessary, during their time of absence.
Maintaining a clean, neat and safe warehouse environment. This includes all areas of responsibility being swept daily, pallets are neatly stacked, and garbage is discarded.
Maintaining all material handling and order processing equipment. Plugging lift trucks and pallet jacks into chargers at the end of each shift and addressing any defects or possible equipment problems.
Reporting repair or maintenance needs for company vehicles and equipment to management.
Completing and submitting productivity and metric reporting in a timely manner.
Assisting in maintaining a constant state of compliance with all quality systems for the warehouse including, but not limited to, AIB standards, compliance with GDPs (Good Distribution Practices) and all employee training required to support quality systems. This includes managing quality processes such as hold requests and mock recoveries when required.

Inventory :
Administering policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate count, lot codes, and dating requirements of all inventories and meet minimum accuracy requirements of Central Pet Distribution and Hills Pet Nutrition.
Meeting all requirements of Central and Hills Pet Nutrition cycle count and physical inventory policy.
Performing system transactions in SAP and Prelude in support of hold requests and mock recoveries when required.
Handling damaged / infested items, including cleanup, segregating, logging, and taping bags.
Processing customer returns and customer shortage reports in a timely manner.
Maintaining efficient pick path and ergonomic placement of products in the warehouse.
Maintaining warehouse, zone, bin, and product records in Prelude.
Processing vendor claims to recover cost of defective or returned product.
Ensuring completion of daily Min / Max stock replenishment reports.
Setting new products and removing discontinued / obsolete products as directed by the Central Pet purchasing team or Hills Pet Nutrition.
Education and Experience :
Four years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment. 1-year previous Inventory experience, including cycle counting, lot code management, and pick path efficiency.
Must have excellent computer skills, including previous experience working with Warehouse Management Systems.
Excellent analytical and planning skills. Able to plan and be proactive to prevent time spent reacting to problems.
Must be familiar with, understand, abide by and enforce all Company policies and procedures.
Able to safely operate and become certified in the operation of all warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks and shrink wrap machines.
Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephones, copy machine, fax machine and computer (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook).
Able to communicate effectively in both oral and written format.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Must be flexible to changing customer or operational demands and able to work overtime on short notice.
Must be an excellent problem-solver, organized and attentive to detail.
Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds, and able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Ability to meet deadlines and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Working Conditions :
The warehouse is a non-climate-controlled facility. The outside temperature generally reflects the inside temperature with little air circulation.
Must be able to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to dust.
Must be able to wear safety glasses, safety vest and any other personal protective equipment as required for the facility / work area (i.e., gloves, safety shoes).

Position Information :
This position pays $19-$23 per hour depending on experience.
Monday-Friday : 4 : 00am - 12 : 30pm
