Job description

Overview

Henderson Engineers is looking for a Lead Integrated Automation Designer to join their Strategic Consulting team.

Integrated Automation brings the many technology systems that keep a facility running into one coordinated, interoperable data layer. Rather than treating each system as a standalone "black box," Integrated Automation focuses on open standards, shared data models, and common user interfaces so owners can monitor, control, and optimize every asset as a single, data-rich platform that supports business goals such as occupant experience, sustainability, resilience, and lifecycle cost reduction.

Lead Integrated Automation Designer

A Lead Integrated Automation Designer turns that vision into reality. They spearhead the end-to-end design of the building technology stack, from requirements discovery, coordinating with all disciplines, through construction and turnover.

  • Discovery & Strategy

Engage owners and stakeholders to translate operational goals into functional requirements, data strategies, and performance metrics.

  • System Architecture
  • Lay out the software, network and data architecture that unifies BAS, power, lighting, security, AV, and other OT systems; ensuring secure and structured data is at the forefront of our designs.

  • Coordination & Documentation
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to integrate control sequences, points lists, and interface standards into construction documents.

  • Technology Selection
  • Evaluate and select hardware and software platforms that meet scalability, cost, and resiliency targets.

  • Quality & Commissioning Support
  • Oversee submittal reviews, commissioning testing and training to verify the integrated system delivers the intended outcomes.

In short, the Lead Designer is the technical and strategic champion who ensures every piece of building technology interconnects seamlessly and securely to deliver actionable data and reliable automation throughout the facility's life.
