International Networking Assistant

Reporting to the Manager, International Programs & Collaboration, and working in conjunction with the International Programs & Collaboration Office (IPCO) team, the International Networking Assistant will provide coordination and administrative support in the building, organizing, and evaluation of multiple international networking programs and initiatives that advance OCAD University's (OCAD U) global engagement strategy. The position will help oversee program scheduling and governance, contribute to the development of non-credit and travel-based programming, and assist in planning international initiatives connected to OCAD U's upcoming 150th anniversary.
The incumbent will support promotion and outreach, assist in participant selection and preparation, and use observation and analytical skills to identify trends and areas requiring attention as programming advances. This includes working with the Coordinator, International Experience & Exchange Programs and the Manager, International Programs & Collaboration to document, assess, and capture best practices that enhance future international programming and networks.
Summary of Responsibilities :
- Work with IPCO team on promotion and registration for internal community as well as coordination and outreach with international stakeholders and participants of international programming
- Support the development of new non-credit, collaborative international learning / networking opportunities that expand pathways for diverse learners (both travel-based and online)
- Work with the ICPO team to establish appropriate strategies to enhance the experience for program participants, external partners, and the broader OCAD U community through sustained international communities of practice
- Where needed, liaise with all appropriate staff at both OCAD U and our international partners, including international office counterparts, Campus Life, IT, etc. to support program delivery
- Contribute to the development of diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility (DEIA) strategies throughout all work and outreach activities
- Work closely with Coordinator, International Experience & Exchange Programs and Manager, International Programs & Collaboration to strengthen international networks and develop pathways, plans, and / or logistics for international collaborations
- Support the office's contribution to OCAD U's 150th anniversary international initiatives and global profile-building activities and their planning
- Assist the Manager, International Programs & Collaboration in other related tasks that contribute to the successful operation of Student Affairs
Qualifications :
Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceUnderstanding of art and design-based practices, curriculum and / or research knowledge is considered an assetFamiliarity with international collaboration / relation would be considered an assetProven skills in relationship building and ability to collaborate with different stakeholders locally and internationallyAbility to develop and promote effective internal and external organizational partnershipsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and video communications softwareExcellent research and analytical skills and demonstrated attention to detail, organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesStrong communication skills required that includes public speaking, presentations, and promotion of new concepts and ideasDemonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and facultyAbility to work evenings to accommodate various time zones is requiredCompensation : OPSEU Unit 1, Appendix A, Grade A2; $23.48 to $32.29 per hour
Hours of Work : 21 hours per week. This is a temporary contract expected to continue until Friday May 29, 2026.
Mode of Work : Hybrid Model. This position is primarily remote, with on-campus presence required on an as-needed basis.
