Gateway SRA is seeking a compassionate and energetic Elevate Recreation Leader to join our Day Program Services team. This part-time position provides hands-on support and engagement for adults with disabilities in our Elevate Day Program . Working alongside two other Recreation Leaders and a Day Program Coordinator, you’ll help foster a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment that encourages independence, socialization, and personal growth.

Schedule : Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday 7 : 45 AM - 2 : 30 PM
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Uphold Agency Mission, Values & Policies
- Foster an inclusive, respectful culture among participants and staff
- Comply with all agency, HR, and program policies
- Attend and complete all required trainings
Provide Direct Program Support
Encourage participant engagement and independenceFacilitate and assist with structured activities (e.g., arts & crafts, music, life skills, fitness, and community outings)Provide positive support and redirection based on individual goals and needsCommunicate feedback to the Day Program Coordinator and, when appropriate, to familiesEnsure Participant Safety
Maintain awareness of participants’ behavior and whereaboutsIdentify and manage risks during all activities and outingsFollow safety protocols, intervene as needed, and document incidents or injuriesSafely supervise use of potentially hazardous tools (e.g., cooking or gardening supplies)Maintain Program Environment
Set up and clean up daily program activitiesKeep shared spaces organized and welcomingEnsure proper use and storage of all equipment and materialsTransportation Support
Must be able and comfortable driving a 10-15 passenger para transit bus.Assist participants in safely boarding / exiting agency vehiclesHelp manage behaviors and safety during transportEnsure vehicles are cleaned and ready for future useWorkplace Safety
Follow vehicle use and maintenance proceduresParticipate in annual defensive driving training (if applicable)Report safety concerns or maintenance needs promptlyRequirements :
High school diploma or equivalent requiredExperience working with individuals with disabilities preferredStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to remain patient, observant, and proactiveMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with mobility supportMust pass background checks and meet direct care requirementsWork Environment
Indoor and community-based settingsRegular physical activity (standing, bending, lifting, assisting participants)Consistent, daytime schedule — no nights or weekends!Additional Information :
