Licensed Psychologist

We are seeking a highly qualified and compassionate North Carolina Licensed Psychologist to conduct comprehensive psychological examinations for military veterans applying for service-connected disability benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The core function of this role is to provide detailed, objective, and legally compliant documentation of mental health conditions to support the veteran's claim for disability compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Examinations: Perform thorough psychological evaluations, often referred to as Compensation and Pension (C&P) exams or Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs).
• Assessment & Diagnosis: Administer clinical interviews, behavioral observations, and psychological testing (as necessary) to accurately diagnose and document mental conditions (e.g., PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, TBI sequelae) in accordance with the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR).
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports that clearly address the veteran's symptoms, functional impairment, and the nexus (link) between the claimed condition and military service, following all VA guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Review Records: Review and integrate service medical records, treatment records, and other relevant documentation into the evaluation process.
• Ethical Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and professional standards set forth by the North Carolina Psychology Board and relevant federal guidelines.
• Time Management: Efficiently manage a caseload and ensure timely submission of reports to meet critical deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

• Licensure: Must hold a current, unrestricted Licensed Psychologist (LP) license from the North Carolina Psychology Board.
• Education: Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical, Counseling, or equivalent Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program.
• Experience:
• • Minimum of 2 years of experience conducting psychological assessments and evaluations.
  • Proven experience working with military veterans and understanding military culture is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the VA disability rating process, C&P exams, and the use of Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) is essential.
• Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria and differential diagnosis, particularly as they apply to combat and service-related trauma and stress.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail in report writing, and strong clinical interviewing abilities.
