Overview

Synaptics is looking for a physical layer standards engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be representing Synaptics in the standards bodies like IEEE and BT‑SIG. You will track the new developments in the standards and will be responsible for simulation of the new features. You will also bring new features to the standards bodies meetings that align with Synaptics vision. This position reports to the Sr. Director, WLAN System Algorithms and Architecture.

The typical base pay range for this position is USD $124,000 – $194,700 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, equity, and other benefits. Note that compensation listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.

Responsibilities & Competencies

• Track and analyze the IEEE 802.11 and BT‑SIG and CSA standards.
• Communicate the new features and developments in the standards bodies to the Synaptics team.
• Develop simulation platforms for new standards’ features.
• Provide direction and ideas for new features that align with Synaptics road map.
• Strong theoretical background in signal processing and communication theory.
• Ability and interest to learn new technologies quickly.
• Excellent analytical abilities.
• Proactive, self‑motivated, and able to work independently.
• Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate.
• Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas.
• Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through practical use of technology and an understanding of product architecture.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong team player with the ability to work within a diverse team.
