Position Summary :
The HR Generalist at Moors & Cabot will be a pivotal member of our Human Resources team, responsible for a broad range of HR functions. This role requires a proactive and experienced professional who can manage various aspects of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and compliance. The HR Generalist will work closely with employees and management to ensure a positive and productive work environment and culture, contributing to the overall success of the firm.
This full-time role reports to the Vice President, Human Resources. Working hours are Monday - Friday 8 : 30 AM to 5 : 00 PM EST. This position is eligible for our hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of 3 days / week in the Boston office and 2 days remote.
Key Responsibilities :
Recruitment & Onboarding :
Manage the full recruitment cycle, including creating job descriptions, posting open positions, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and extending offers.
Develop and implement effective onboarding programs to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
Conduct new hire orientations and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Employee Relations :
Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and support on HR policies and procedures.
Assist in resolving employee relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution, in a fair and consistent manner.
Promote a positive work environment through effective communication and employee engagement initiatives.
Includes weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual engagement events and recognition programs
HR Administration & Compliance :
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR information systems.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Prepare and process HR-related documentation, including employment agreements, performance reviews, and termination letters.
Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and answering employee questions.
Performance Management & Development :
Support the implementation and administration of performance management programs, including annual reviews and goal setting.
Assist in identifying training and development needs, and coordinate relevant programs or resources.
Provide guidance to managers on performance coaching and feedback.
Policy Development & Implementation :
Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
Communicate policy updates to employees and ensure consistent application.
HR Projects & Initiatives :
Participate in and lead various HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR processes and employee experience.
Prepare HR reports and analytics as needed to support decision-making.
Key Measurements :
Ability to build rapport and trust of employee population
Professionalism shown in correspondence to employees, potential candidates, and external stakeholders
Capability to prioritize tasks with little direction
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist capacity
Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment laws (federal and state; experience with multi-state organizations a plus)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in HRIS systems (ADP; Employee Navigator), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.), Canva, DocuSign and Adobe
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus
