Boston’s News Leader, WCVB, the Hearst owned ABC affiliate in Boston (Needham), MA is looking for a Weekend Anchor / Reporter who excels at storytelling and brings theenergy oflive reportingto our anchor desk.We are seeking a versatile self-starterwho is fast, efficient, works well under tight deadlines, and jumps at the chance to field-anchor. Top candidates will have credibility, poise, and personality as well as the ability to develop key sources and break bigstories. Our anchors lead by example, creating energetic digital and linear content, pitching story ideas, mentoringproducers andreporters, and taking an active role in writing and editing scripts that really speak to the viewer.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliverscriptedandbreaking news content withprofessionalism,personality,andpurpose
- Collaborate with newscast and digital producersto create impactful stories that translate into metrics success on all platforms
- Work with assignment editors to plan,gather, andedit day-ofnewsorspecialprojects
- Develop meaningful sources both locally and nationally
- Work with photojournalists to turn a good story idea into a highly produced piece, loaded with compellingvideoandsound
- Coordinate with news managers and producers to develop stories that go beyond surfacedetails,accentuate unique enterprise angles, andhaveexclusive content
- Contribute photos,video,andcopy to digital platformsthroughout the day
- Demonstrateexceptional time-managementskills bymeetingall deadlines under extraordinary pressure
