Position Description : The Department of Art and Design at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) offers three distinct B.A. degrees : Art, Art History, and Design. We invite highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized applicants for a temporary pool of part-time teaching appointments in all three areas. This application is for Art History instruction. Department Mission Statement : The Art and Design Department at CSUDH offers rich arts education and programming. We offer three B.A. degrees (Art, Art History, Design) with minors including Art, Art History, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Digital Graphics, and Photography. Our world-class faculty supports students in and out of the classroom. We leverage the proximity to one of the world’s great art centers and the diversity of Los Angeles. The Department cultivates rigorous, cross-disciplinary programs that prepare students for professional and post-graduate work. Graduating seniors organize presentations and exhibitions as a culmination of their efforts. The B.A. in Art provides foundational knowledge for creating with new technologies and traditional media. The B.A. in Art History develops critical thinking and visual literacy. The B.A. in Design covers print, web, UI / UX, illustration, photography, motion design, and connections to the professional industry through internships.

The Position : The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
Responsibilities
Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.

Employment Requirement
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and / or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
In accordance with the California State University (CSU) Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is a state entity whose business operations reside within the State of California and prohibits hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside of California.

A United States (US) Equivalency certification is required for earned / awarded / conferred foreign terminal degrees, which is from a foreign Academic Institution for foreign studies. The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English, and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e., Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate’s, Doctor’s of Philosophy).
