Business Developer
The best teams are created and maintained here. The business developer works to improve BrightView's market position and achieve profitable financial growth. This role helps to achieve long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates, and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions. The business developer manages the sales pipeline from prospecting to closing and is responsible for full cycle landscape and, depending on region, snow sales. The business developer collaborates and works with partners including operations, finance, marketing, and more to manage responses to bids in an effort to meet sales targets.
Duties and responsibilities include : working with prospective customers to discover their points of pain and develop solutions; accurately forecasting sales deliverables and KPIs; achieving sales goals and being able to work independently; performing sales prospecting using consultative sales techniques to build long-standing business relationships; preparing and conducting heavy phone prospecting, sales presentations, virtual demonstrations, and handling contract negotiations with minimum supervision; identifying customer needs and utilizing solution-based selling techniques to fully demonstrate value of BrightView services; cultivating and maintaining relationships with prospects and existing clients; building and maintaining trust-based professional relationships with key decision makers; planning daily and hitting specific activity benchmarks and closing business; logging activity consistently and reliably in CRM; working in a fast-paced environment while operating with a high sense of urgency; communicating proactively with all decision makers and influencers.
Education and experience required include : bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; extensive face-to-face (B2B) selling experience at the mid-to-senior levels, 3-5 years of experience; experience managing multiple projects and able to multi-task in a large territory; proficient with computer programs including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience with a CRM or SFA tool; proven track record of sales goal attainment and pipeline management; highly competitive, positive, and results driven; excellent presentation skills; excellent oral and written communication skills to build client-centric and solution / value-based proposals; working experience with social media; local knowledge and contacts in one or more market segments preferred; ability to be self-motivated and self-directed; experience in the service industry with commercial contract sales desirable.
Physical demands / requirements include : constant operation of a computer and other office equipment such as a laptop, cell phone and sales programs / tools; position is a combination of mobile and sedentary work; must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time; customarily and regularly spends more than half of the time working away from BrightView's places of business selling and obtaining orders or contracts for BrightView's services; ability to travel by car, train, and plane; position needs to be able to traverse uneven grounds and walk on jobsites with clients and branch teams for periods of time up to 4 hours.
Work environment includes : works both indoors and outdoors; field based position, combination of office and customer facing.
