- Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose conditions.
- Administer vaccinations and medications as needed.
- Surgical ability is a plus but not mandatory.
- Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with staff and clients.
- Implement aseptic techniques during surgeries and procedures to prevent infections.
- Provide guidance on animal husbandry practices to pet owners.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients treated.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians in the care of animals, including handling and restraint techniques.
- Educate pet owners about preventive care, nutrition, and wellness practices.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education.
- Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid veterinary license to practice in the state.
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common diseases.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine.
- Experience with animal handling and care, particularly dogs and other companion animals.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care protocols is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- A compassionate approach towards animals and their owners.
